Welcome to
Crediton Methodist Church
Welcome to the Crediton Methodist Church website. We are a medium sized church situated in the centre of town. We have just under 100 members, with an active programme to suit all ages. Crediton is an historic Devon market town, and only seven miles from Exeter. Our present building was built in the year 1892, and has two interesting stained glass windows, one a beautiful rose window and the other, quite unusual for a Methodist Church, an inspiring representation of Jesus on the Cross. During Saxon times Crediton was the cathedral city for Devon. The town's historical significance began in 680AD when a child known as Winfrith was born here. Winfrith became St Boniface, one of the greatest Christian missionaries and a founding father of the Christian church in Europe. We are an outward looking church with good relationships within the community - with other local churches, local schools and the many groups with whom we are delighted to share our church buildings - Pippins, a preschool nursery, dancing group, A.A., Crediton Operatic and Dramatic Society, the North Creedy Choir and many more. But to find out more come inside our church and meet the minister. |
